Olazabal trailing by one shot
Jose Maria Olazabal, who says he will turn down a wild-card invitation to play in next month's Ryder Cup match, was only one stroke behind the leader, Jim Gallagher Jnr, at the halfway stage of his defence of the NEC World Series of at Akron, Ohio. The Spaniard, who has a foot injury, added a level-par 70 to his opening 68. Nick Faldo, already confirmed as one of the European captain Bernard Gallacher's two wild cards for Oak Hill, was four shots behind Olazabal after a second successive 71. Sweden's Liselotte Neumann had a six-under-par 66 to take a three-stroke lead after two rounds of the du Maurier Classic in Montreal. Laura Davies, the world No 1, is 16 shots behind Neumann on 153.
