Zimbabwe's Tony Johnstone, chasing a fourth victory on the South African tour this season, went to the top of the leaderboard after the third round of the Mount Edgecombe Trophy in Durban. His four-under-par 68 left him one shot ahead of the Texan Mike Board, who went round in 70. A key factor was a dramatic change in wind direction from a north-easterly to a swirling south-westerly made the back nine on the tight tree-lined fairways a tricky proposition, but Johnstone, a good player in the wind, was in his element.
