Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Faldo, the three-times Open champion, recorded five birdies in a faultless round in Jakarta, while Parnevik had six birdies and only one bogey. Faldo started with an 18-foot putt at the first, and on the 10th hit a sand wedge from the rough then putted in from eight feet.
Faldo and Parnevik are two of the four best-known players on the Super Tour - which also takes in Thailand, the Philippines and Taiwan - the others are Ian Woosnam and Ernie Els.
Els shot a 69 to lie third, while Woosnam scored 70 to be level with the first of the four Asian players taking part, Felix Casas of the Philippines.
Scott Henderson has won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award. The 28-year-old Scot finished 42nd on the European Tour this season, the highlights being his joint runners-up finish in the Canon European Masters in Switzerland and a tied fourth in the Compaq European Grand Prix at Slaley Hall.
