From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

'I thought this one had slipped away when I missed the green with a four-iron at the 10th, but I just accepted it and kept plugging away,' Davies said after sealing her sixth win of the year.
Davies had started the day three strokes clear of Orum. However, after dropping shots at the first and sixth holes, Davies fell one behind the Dane, who had birdied the first and fifth.
At the turn Orum, out in 33, was 10 under par and leading by two strokes from Davies and the American, Jane Geddes, but it was Davies who stepped up a gear to clinch her 31st career title. Laura Navarro, of Spain, and Geddes shared third place with an aggregate of 276.
Davies, who now holds the Scottish, English and Irish Open crowns, had birdies at the 12th and 13th, the latter from five feet, to move ahead of Orum, who missed the green to drop a shot at the same hole.
Davies and Orum both had pars at the next three holes. But Davies held off Orum at the 18th with a solid recovery over the trees on to the green for her four after they had both driven into the left rough.
