Golf: Caddie shows Davies the way
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Davies gathered five birdies in her last six holes and her halfway total of 137, nine under par, gives her a two-stroke lead over Marie-Laure de Lorenzi and Liselotte Neumann.
In her opening round of 69 Davies, a winner in Thailand and America this year, had been frustrated on the greens as she accumulated 34 putts. There was little improvement yesterday until she called on the help of her caddie, Mark Fulcher. 'I had just three-putted the 11th and 13th, so I asked Mark to line up my putts and it worked like a charm,' Davies said.
At the next Davies holed a putt of 20 feet for a birdie. She then rolled in a putt of 30 feet for a birdie at the 15th and also birdied the next three holes.
