WWE Wrestlemania: Will Daniel Bryan's beating on Raw signal an Evolution reunion at Wrestlemania XXX

Former stable team-mates Randy Orton and Batista will face-off in a triple-threat against either Bryan or Triple H, the former leader of Evolution

Before his sickening attack on a handcuffed Daniel Bryan last week on Monday Night Raw, Chief Operations Officer Triple H announced to the WWE universe that if he is to win his Wrestlemania match with the leader of the Yes Movement then he will be included in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between the Viper, Randy Orton and the Animal, Batista.

Since Summerslam, where Bryan was screwed out of the WWE Championship by the Game, the Authority has made sure that whatever chance Bryan has had at winning the title, was taken away from him in the most dramatic of circumstances, be that by Director of Operations Kane interfering, the Shield being deployed to attack him or the King of Kings himself coming down to the ring to dash his hopes of reaching the summit of World Wrestling Entertainment.

The build-up for this year’s Mania has not lived up to the hype of ones that have come before. The 30th anniversary brought huge expectations from the fans for the company to deliver, but it can be argued that these expectations have not been met - Batista winning a below-par Royal Rumble is one example while the lack of returning legends is another - with Hulk Hogan being the only big name that has ‘come home’.

CM Punk’s departure has also affected the build-up, as the Straight-edge superstar was a fan favourite and his omission from the event will dilute the quality of it. Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar is huge but the addition of a 30-man, over the top rope battle royal, for the Andre the Giant Memorial trophy suggests they were struggling to include all the superstars under their employment. This has now created a huge amount of pressure on the company to produce a Mania that won’t disappoint.

Bryan’s inclusion into the main event is what every fan wants to see but it is clear that the powers that be do not want him as champion despite his huge fan following. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon refuse to back down from their belief that Bryan is not good enough to lead the company and for it to evolve he does not deserve to be in the main event at Wrestlemania. This could mean a surprise twist at the event.

Due to Bryan’s lack of championship credentials a triple-threat match involving the King of Kings, Orton and Batista looks the most likely outcome for the main event of the spectacles 30th anniversary in New Orleans, meaning that all three combatants in that match will be former members of the once dominant faction Evolution.

For those fans that aren’t familiar with the stable, formed in 2003, it consisted of current WWE World Heavyweight champion Orton, number one contender for said-title Batista, the Game and the Nature Boy Ric Flair. The roles of the four members at the time were as follows; Triple H was the leader, the champion and dominant force in the group, Flair was the veteran, the wise battle hardened professional whose experience was vital for the development of Orton, the young star, the future of the WWE (how right they were) and finally the Animal, the enforcer of the stable.

If Evolution is to return on the grandest stage of them all then you would imagine that Orton would take the role of Triple H, Batista would remain as the enforcer in a bid to somehow regain his popularity with the fans, the Game would take up Flair’s position in the faction and that would leave a space for one member. Could that remaining spot be left open for Bryan, the perfect opponent for the faction? Could there be a possible return for Flair? Or will a superstar who has been somewhat forgotten by the company be given another chance, a Dolph Ziggler, a Miz or even a Cody Rhodes.

There is no doubt that the fans are firmly behind Bryan and it could be the Authority’s thinking that support won’t disappear if the Yes Movement’s leader does not win at Wrestlemania. A long-term rivalry with Evolution would keep fans hooked and if anything increase their support for the bearded one.

The return of Evolution would certainly be fitting for the companies 30 anniversary of its biggest event, with the WWE Network being launched in the build-up along with the introduction of its Global Performance Centre last April, the company is evolving and with Triple H being the given the job of overseeing the development, the return of one of the most villainous stables in professional wrestling looks increasingly likely.
