WWE WrestleMania 35 2019: How to stream, when is it, what is the fight card and the latest news

Everything you need to know about the biggest event in wrestling

Wrestlemania is WWE’s flagship event and returns for the 35^th time this weekend.

The event will be held in the state of New Jersey for the first time since 2013, at the 82,550 capacity MetLife Stadium, the home ground of the New York Giants and New York Jets.

As usual there is going to be plenty of razzmatazz, with SNL comedians Colin Jost and Michael Che set to be special correspondents for the event, while eighties rock star Joan Jett will perform her song ‘Bad Reputation’ live for Ronda Rousey’s ring entrance.

Former UFC champion Rousey will meanwhile take on Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a winner takes all triple threat match for the WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown Women’s Championships, while Brock Lesnar defends his WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins.

When is Wrestlemania?

Wrestlemania is this Sunday, 6th April 2019, into the morning of Monday, 7th here in the UK.

Where is Wrestlemania being held?

This year’s event is being held in East Rutherford, New Jersey, close to New York. The show is being staged at MetLife Stadium, a multi-purpose venue that has staged some of the world’s biggest names in music and sport.

Wrestlemania was held there in 2013, in front of a crowd of around 80,000. Similar numbers are expected this weekend.

What time does Wrestlemania start?

The main portion of Wrestlemania starts at 12midnight here, but the action will actually begin earlier at 10pm UK time with what’s known as the Wrestlemania Kickoff Show that features analysis, build-up and some preliminary matches.

How can I watch Wrestlemania?

There are a number of ways. If you’re into your pay-per-view, your best place is Sky Sports Box Office.

The channel is showing Wrestlemania live on Sunday, while repeats air Monday April 8 to Thursday April 11 between 6am and midnight. It’ll set you back £19.95, though.

You can also watch it for a slightly cheaper price of £9.99 if you’re a subscriber to WWE’s in-house subscription channel, WWE Network.

WWE Network is available on PC/MAC as well as all major smart phones and devices and connected televisions including PS3, PS4, Xbox, iPhone, Android and more.

Can I stream Wrestlemania for free?

What is the Wrestlemania main event?

It’s often a hot topic of debate leading up to Wrestlemania, but for the first time in a long time, we know for certain which match will be closing out the show in New Jersey.

WWE made the welcome but relatively rare move recently to confirm that the triple-threat match between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch will be the main event – the first time in the show’s 35-year history that the company’s female athletes will have that prestigious honour.

What other big names are appearing?

Dave Bautista is back in WWE – for Wrestlemania, at least. The Hollywood star, using his WWE name Batista, is feuding with his good pal Triple H in one of the night’s key bouts.

Elsewhere, as well as Ronda Rousey’s involvement, it seems unlikely that we won’t see John Cena at some stage during the night – though that isn’t confirmed at this point.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett will be appearing with a live performance of her hit Bad Reputation, which acts as Rousey’s entrance music.

Colin Jost and Michael Che of Saturday Night Live fame in the States will be a part of Wrestlemania – they’ve been involved with a storyline alongside WWE star Braun Strowman in recent weeks and it’s likely this will come to a head on Sunday.

Are there any surprises being planned?

Well, it’s Wrestlemania week, so there’s plenty of the usual gossip.

As mentioned, the idea that Cena won’t appear in some capacity just seems far-fetched – the same really being said for the Undertaker, though the legendary figure has been much more distant from WWE in recent months.

NXT superstar Lars Sullivan, who had been expected to debut on the main roster some months ago, is also among the names tipped to have some sort of involvement at the weekend.

What other key matches are there?

WWE have again put together an exhausting list of matches for fans to enjoy over the course of what will be a seven-hour show.

In addition to the women’s main event – which will see the winner claim both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championships - WWE Champion Daniel Bryan defends his gold against Kofi Kingston.

Brock Lesnar puts the Universal title on the like against Seth Rollins, while Roman Reigns continues his comeback with a bout against the gigantic Scot, Drew McIntyre.

Legendary WWE superstar Kurt Angle has also announced he’ll retire after Wrestlemania – his final contest is against Baron Coribin.
