From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In the final fight of the night, Sheamus and Reigns renewed their rivalry by beating the hell out of each other with anything they could get their hands on. Reigns Samoan Dropped Sheamus to split a ladder in half, while the Irishman hit White Noise through a table in response.
The Big Dog came close to winning the title as he scaled the ladder, only for the League of Nations to come to Sheamus' rescue and help him retain the championship.
However, Reigns finally snapped and he attacked Sheamus and his stablemates afterwards, leading to The Authority coming out. A fuming Reigns turned on Triple H, spearing him at ringside before powerbombing him onto a table.
Earlier in the night Dean Ambrose won the Intercontinental title after defeating Kevin Owens. The Lunatic Fringe hit Dirty Deeds to swing the bout into his favour, and rolled up Owens to claim the title.
Alberto Del Rio retained the US Championship as he prevailed in a testing match with Jack Swagger. Both Superstars took a number of chair shots during the match, but it would be the Mexican who would prevail after smashing the All-American American into a pile of chairs to seal the win.

Charlotte defeated Paige once again, though it took the help of her father to do so. Paige looked set to win the Diva's Championship as she pinned Charlotte, but Ric Flair moved his daughter's feet under the ropes to break the count, and Charlotte would go on to use an exposed turnbuckle to win the bout.

The New Day held onto the Tag Team gold in an energetic and high octane match against the Lucha Dragons and the Usos. No team was able to stay on top as the momentum swung in everyone's favour throughout. However, with Kofi Kingston and Big E down and out, Xavier Woods interfered and hit Kallisto with his trombone, and the New Day walked out victorious shortly after.

The Wyatt Family finally got a win at a PPV as they beat the ECW Originals. Erick Rowan was eliminated early, before Rhyno and D-Von Dudley followed after being put through tables. Things got worse for the veterans when Tommy Dreamer followed, and despite Bubba Ray Dudley attempting to set a table of fire, Dean Strowman picked up the victory.
Ruses looked to put an end to his feud with Ryback after capitalising on a distraction from Lana to force the Big Guy to pass out to the Accolade, while in the opening match of the night Sasha Banks beat Becky Lynch with the help of Team B.A.D.
