From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The 2016 Royal Rumble will be the first in its 28-year history that the WWE World Heavyweight championship will be defended in the 30-man over-the-top-rope itself, with Vince McMahon set to punish current title-holder Roman Reigns for his recent attacks on the WWE chairman.
As if facing 29 other men for his title wasn’t hard enough, Reigns will enter the ring first after being drawn out of a rigged tombola to decide who would start of this year’s Rumble – once again held by Vince and Stephanie McMahon.
The Rumble has grown into one of the pinnacle events of the WWE calendar, and signals the start of the Road to WrestleMania where under normal circumstances the Rumble winner meets the WWE World Heavyweight champion in the main event.
But with Reigns entered into the Rumble itself this year, the 2016 edition is set to be an historic event.
Here, we look at everything you need to know ahead of the Royal Rumble.
