Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Raw kicked off with Kevin Owens calling John Cena delusional if he thinks that he will win on Sunday at Money in the Bank. The pair decided to issue an open challenge to any Superstar for either the U.S. Championship of NXT Championship, which Neville responded to.
The Man That Gravity Forgot went for Owens' gold and gave him a run for his money. Owens was able to eventually retain his title with the Pop-up Powerbomb but Neville showed the fans what he was capable of during his reign in NXT. Cena watched on and was ready for a fight following the match but Owens walked away to keep him waiting till the weekend.
Nikki Bella made quick work of Summer Rae with a Roundhouse Kick and Rack Attack combination. This was a non title match to prepare Nikki for a match with Paige at Money in the Bank later this week in another rematch between the two Divas.
Randy Orton started his match with Sheamus strongly by hitting his modified Backbreaker but The Celtic Warrior brought the match to the outside. The Viper wasted no time to get his hands on a weapon as he launched a chair to the ribs of Sheamus to get himself disqualified. Orton then sent a message to his upcoming Ladder Match opponents by attacking Sheamus after the match and finishing with the RKO.
Rusev distracted Dolph Ziggler by approaching Lana and causing her to fall over during The Show Off's match with Kane. The Devil's Favourite Demon took advantage by hitting the Chokeslam on Ziggler to head into the Ladder Match with a rare win in the bag.
Luke Harper and Erick Rowan showed no signs of ever splitting by dominating over Los Matadores. The former Wyatt Family members won the match with the 3D, which Michael Cole called The Way. Harper then told the crowd that their time is coming up in a cryptic promo.
Big E's New Day teammates helped distract Titus O'Neill for the powerhouse to get the win with a Big Ending. The two teams will lock arms for the WWE Tag Team Championship this Sunday following a strong season from the Prime Time Players since reuniting.
Roman Reigns defeated Kofi Kingston with a mid air Superman Punch as the high flyer jumped off the top rope. Reigns is a strong favourite heading into Money in the Bank as the man to grab the briefcase and continued to show his worth here following his triple win on last week's Raw.
The main event saw J&J Security take on their boss Seth Rollins. Dean Ambrose was in the crowd with ringside seats and poured a drink on Rollins before throwing him the title to distract him.
Joey Mercury landed a rollup to pin Rollins for his security to get the upset over him. After the match Ambrose entered the ring to hit the Dirty Deeds before posing over Rollins with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as the two get ready to face off at Money in the Bank.
