History repeated itself as Roman Reigns won the WEE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series, only to see Sheamus cash-in his Money In The Bank contract and snatch the title away just minutes later.
Reigns won the belt after defeating his former Shield partner Dean Ambrose, the pair beating Alberto Del Rio and Kevin Owens respectively to reach the final of the tournament to decide the next world champions.
Ambrose took the fight to the larger Reigns, throwing the big man into the ring post on his injured shoulder as well as landing Dirty Deeds. But it wasn't enough to keep Reigns down for the three-count, and when Reigns hit Ambrose with a spear, the title was his.
Neither proved to have turned to The Authority despite pre-show predictions, and when Triple H walked out to congratulate Reigns, he speared the COO of the WWE. However, this proved to be the start of the end for Reigns, as Sheamus ran out to cash in his Money In The Bank and deliver a Brogue Kick to snatch the title away. Reigns experienced a similar fate at WrestleMania when he beat Brock Lesnar, only to see Seth Rollins do the same.
As well as resolve the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture, Survivor Series celebrated 25 years of the Undertaker, with the Phenom joining Kane to reform the Brothers of Destruction to take on the Wyatt Family.
Bray Wyatt chose Luke Harper to contest the tag-team match with him, though both Erick Rowan – who was chokeslammed before things even began – and Braun Strowman would interfere in the match.
But after a stunning Undertaker entrance that featured memorable moments from 'Takers career projected from a giant coffin, the match failed to deliver, and ended in Reigns suffering another career-denting defeat at a pay-per-view.
Reigns' win over Del Rio in the semi-finals of the tournament proved to be the match of the night, with Reigns withstanding a barrage of beat downs to spear the Mexican and pick up the win. Ambrose managed to overcome Owens in an all-out brawl to land Dirty Deeds and advance to the final.
In the battle for the Divas Championship, Charlotte held on to the title in a vicious duel with former friend Paige.
Charlotte dominated most of the match, although as the fight moved outside the ring it was Paige who gained the upper hand. However, Charlotte locked in the Figure Eight once the action returned to the ring and Paige was forced to tap out.
Tyler Breeze enjoyed his biggest victory to date as he controlled his match with Dolphins Ziggler before hitting the Unprettier to pick up the win.
The traditional Survivor Series 10-man tag match proved to be a flop, as The Usos, The Lucha Dragons and Ryback got the better of The New Day, King Barrett and Sheamus.
While Sheamus would go on to bigger things later in the night, the match failed to deliver anything having been hastily arranged, and after Big E had been eliminated and The New Day deserted the match to tend to him, Barrett was inner and Sheamus was left to fend for himself.
The Irishman couldn't overcome the odds as Ryback, Jey Uso and Kalisto used the numbers game to get the better of him.
On the pre-show, Bo Dallas, The Miz, The Ascension and Stardust lost to the team of The Dudley Boyz, Neville, Titus O'Neil and Goldust in a low-key affair that had no build up whatsoever.
