Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

London towers returned from another Euroleague drubbing yesterdayand are now facing a ninth defeat in 11 games with tomorrow's BBL Championship trip to Chester Jets.

Towers' 99-75 loss against Peristeri in Greece on Thursday left them with five defeats and no wins in the Euroleague. Since they began their European campaign they have also lost to Milton Keynes Lions, Sheffield Sharks and been knocked out of the ntl National Cup in the first round.

Jets top the BBL northern conference and their group in the BBL League Trophy but, although Towers have lost only one of six games in the southern conference, their European struggle is hurting them.

Chester coach Robbie Peers – while insisting, ''Towers are one of the super powers of the league'' – knows that there is no better time to play them than on their return from Europe. Edinburgh dumped Towers out of the Cup 48 hours after they a 107-64 thrashing in Istanbul.

Peers will give a debut to the former England international, Kurt Samuels, who returns to the BBL after four years playing in Belgium.

Derby, with only one win this season, have the chance of a rare victory in tomorrow's game against injury-hit champions Leicester Riders.
