Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Halliwell Jones Stadium, in Warrington, which only opened in February, will host the match between St Helens and Huddersfield on 25 April, while Widnes' Halton Stadium stages the clash between Wigan and Warrington a week earlier. With capacities of 14,000 and 12,000 respectively, both grounds are likely to be sold out.
Leeds Rugby, which runs both the Rhinos and the rugby union Tykes from Headingley, have announced that they intend to transform the ground in the next three years. The stadium is already close to its reduced 21,000 limit in advance sales for the all-ticket Super League clash with Bradford on 8 April.
Leeds expect to have their Great Britain prop, Barrie McDermott, back in their squad following a hamstring injury for Sunday's match at Leeds, but Gary Connolly is doubtful.
Hull could be without the entire back row of their pack for their visit to Wakefield on Saturday. Shayne McMenemy, Paul McNicholas and Peter Lupton all picked up injuries in the Challenge Cup defeat by St Helens.
