Crusaders have completed the signing of Jarrod Sammut from the Australian club, Penrith.

The 23-year-old half-back has also played for Malta in their inaugural internationals.

"Jarrod is a class player with great skill and footwork," said the Wrexham-based club's coach, Brian Noble. "He was very highly thought of in the NRL and it is a major coup to have him here at Crusaders."

Noble plans to pair Sammut at half-back with Michael Witt and he has gone straight into the squad for this weekend.

The Huddersfield coach, Nathan Brown, will continue with his policy of rotating his squad by resting Jamahl Lolesi and David Fa'alogo for Sunday's game against Wigan in Edinburgh. Luke Robinson, Andy Raleigh and Martin Aspinwall all return.
