Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The hosts had the match won by half-time when they were 28-0 ahead following scores from Leroy Rivett (two), John Duffy, Adam Bristow and Damian Munro, with Neil Turley adding four goals. Further tries from Munro and Pat Weisner as well as another Turley goal increased the Centurions' lead to 38-0 before Rovers' from Jon Aston replied with a try.
In the closing minutes, Rivett ran the length of the field to complete his hat-trick, Duffy added his second and Dale Holdstock also crossed.
Both sides in Wednesday's Origin match between Lancashire and Yorkshire at Odsal have been hit by withdrawals.
Yorkshire have lost their captain, Danny Orr, with a rib injury and Karl Pratt with an elbow problem. The London Broncos' Geordie half-back Chris Thorman, and Rob Burrow of Leeds have been called up as replacements.
Lancashire have lost their prop Barrie McDermott because of a shoulder problem and Sean Long with a recurring hand injury. Wigan's Danny Tickle and Sean O'Loughlin, come into the squad.
