From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Wembley-bound Huddersfield have agreed a new contract extension with their prop forward Darrell Griffin.

The Oxford-born front-rower has signed a new deal to keep him at the Galpharm Stadium until the end of the 2012 season.

The Giants' coach, Nathan Brown, said: "Darrell has been an improving player for us," he said. "He took a bit of time to adjust to my coaching style, but the last eight to 10 weeks have been promising."

Huddersfield have left out captain Brett Hodgson, Stephen Wild and centres Paul Whatuira and Jamahl Lolesi for tonight's game against St Helens, who could have Keiron Cunningham and Sean Long back in harness.

Warrington have named a strong squad to face Wakefield tonight, including their key playmaker Lee Briers.

Wakefield will be without their captain, Jason Demetriou, who has come down with a virus. The reserve half-back, James Davey, comes into the squad for a possible debut.
