From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Warrington remain deep in Super League relegation trouble after an eight-try 46-24 hammering at the hands of Castleford.

Tigers centre Michael Eagar scored two tries and fellow Australian Wayne Bartrim landed seven goals as Castleford piled up the points. Warrington's scoring was dominated by stand-off Lee Briers, who scored a try and kicked six goals.

Castleford took a second-minute lead when Danny Orr, Mitch Healey and Ryan Hudson linked to send Barrie Jon Mather over. Although Briers kicked several penalty goals to keep the visitors in contention, the Tigers were by far the sharper side and Bartrim and Michael Smith made an opening for winger Waine Pryce to go in at the corner.

By half-time the deficit was 22-10, Hudson taking advantage of good work from Nathan Sykes to go over in the 26th minute and Smith forcing his way through from a scrum, only for Briers to hit back for the Wolves with a brilliant individual try.

After the interval, Castleford really started to turn the screw, prop Andy Lynch powering in for a try and six minutes later Bartrim darting clear to put substitute Jon Wells over.

The Tigers stretched their lead to 40-12 in the 62nd minute when Healey and Orr paved the way for Eagar's first.

Warrington debutant Graham Appo created a try for Tommy O'Reilly and Darren Burns also crossed for the visitors in a late rally. But the Tigers had the final say when a wild pass was scooped up by Eagar who raced in for his second, Bartrim tagging on his seventh goal.
