Agar receives boost with Swain's return
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Hull's acting coach, Richard Agar, has one major advantage for his first - and possibly only - match in charge. He is able to call on the services of the club's captain, Richard Swain, whose leadership has been so badly missed over the last month.
Hull are still trying to persuade Steve McNamara to take the job rather than staying on as heir apparent at Bradford, who agreed a new three-year contract with the prop forward Andy Lynch yesterday. McNamara is expected to give his decision after the Bulls play Warrington tomorrow. Until then, it falls to Agar to try to halt Hull's slide at home to Leeds, who have Chev Walker, Shane Millard and Willie Poching back.
David Solomona, the subject of a bid from Wigan, could play against the Warriors for Wakefield tonight if he passes a late fitness test. Wigan's forward problems have shown no sign of abating this week, with Paul Prescott out for the season with a detached retina and Bryan Fletcher suspended for three matches for a tackle in the Cup tie at Wakefield. Their latest recruit, Jordan James, signed from Swinton yesterday, could go straight into their squad.
Paul Sculthorpe returns for St Helens against Harlequins, while Salford, who hope that Malcolm Alker will agree a new contract, play Huddersfield.
