From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Jeremy Noseda has issued a warning regarding Soldier's Tale's participation in the Wokingham Handicap, the six-furlong cavalry charge which forms the betting highlight of Saturday's card at Royal Ascot.

Soldier's Tale heads the betting for the race along with Iffraaj and his trainer said: "He's in great shape and I'm very happy with his preparation for the Wokingham. The only query I have would be the possibility of very fast ground.

"I feel he will handle it; however, with the injury he sustained last year I'd have to take a view on things next Saturday if the ground was extremely quick."

David Allan's disappointment at missing out on a ride at Royal Ascot at York today was tempered when he completed a 28-1 double on No Grouse and Grandad Bill at Thirsk yesterday.

Allan said: "I was going to ride Princess Kiotto in the Ascot Stakes, but she missed the cut by four, so it is a bit disappointing. But there is a chance I might ride Harvest Warrior in the Britannia Handicap."
