Racing: Just James is sprint favourite
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Just James, trained by Jeremy Noseda, is 11-2 favourite with the sponsors for Saturday's William Hill Trophy at York.
The highlight of the course's Timeform Charity Day, the event is Britain's most valuable sprint handicap for three-year-olds and has attracted 37 entries, including six from Tim Easterby's yard.
His contingent is headed by last year's Weatherbys Super Sprint winner Good Girl and she could be joined by Travelling Times, Artie, Fayr Jag, Secret Spoof and Silver Band. Although the entries are dominated by northern-trained runners, Newmarket is represented by James Fanshawe's Curfew, the Alex Stewart-trained Selective and Neville Callaghan's Essenin.
BETTING: 11-2 Just James, 8-1 Fire Up The Band, 9-1 Fayr Jag, Impressive Flight, 10-1 Jonny Ebeneezer, Selective, 12-1 Baldour, Baralinka, Curfew, Waterside, 14-1 Jakeal, Pinchback, 16-1 Artie, Esenin, Flur Na H Alba, Noble Nick, Silver Band, 20-1 others.
* Connections of last week's Vodafone Diomed Stakes winner Nayyir are still considering plans for Royal Ascot. Trainer Gerard Butler nominated the Queen Anne Stakes as his next target but William Hill have made the four-year-old 2-1 favourite for the Royal Hunt Cup.
Butler said: "We need to take a good look at the opposition in the Queen Anne but we will confirm him for that and then we will confirm his entry for the Royal Hunt Cup.
"We will have to have a good look at both races before deciding but we would probably lean more towards the Queen Anne."
