George Washington will dominate the Curragh on Saturday if taking his chance in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, but he would not be guaranteed top billing for the weekend. For Sunday's card could feature a confrontation between Hurricane Run, the champion of Europe in 2005, and David Junior, who won more prize-money on his latest start than any other British horse in history.

Hurricane Run has long been scheduled to reappear in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, but Brian Meehan had intended to rest David Junior until Royal Ascot after his brilliant success in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes in March. Yesterday, however, Meehan indicated that the colt could take on the Arc winner, who is dropping back to David Junior's specialist distance of 10 furlongs. "It's a possibility," the trainer said. "It depends on a few things and I'll know more in the middle of the week, but the horse is very well."

* Today's meeting at Newton Abbot has been abandoned due to waterlogging.
