Frankie Dettori was fined £250 after breaching the controversial mobile phone guidelines at Bath yesterday.
Dettori rode the first three winners and it was after one of those successes that he broke the rules. John Maxse, the Jockey Club's director of public relations, explained: "On his way back to the weighing room he was handed a phone by a member of the public and he took the phone and spoke into the phone.
"I don't think he had any idea who the person was. This was spotted by the press, the public and officials. At the inquiry Dettori, I think, openly admitted he was in breach of the rules."
* The going should be perfect for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday. Longchamp's clerk of the course, Gerard Grandchamp, predicts genuinely good ground and said yesterday: "The track could not be in better shape."
