Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The jockey's association with the filly has come about through his Coolmore retainer, as both horses are owned by Sue Magnier and Michael Tabor.
Damson landed the Queen Mary Stakes at the Royal meeting 12 months ago but was ruled out of the Guineas at Newmarket through illness, while soft ground was against her when she was ninth in the Irish equivalent under Jamie Spencer.
"She seems in good form and hopefully the weather won't be too bad for her up here as she wants quick ground," said Wachman on his arrival in Britain from his Co Tipperary base.
"I think and hope that she has come on for her first run, and she would appreciate true ground."
The opportunity to ride Damson increases Fallon's chances of landing the trophy for top jockey at the meeting, for which he was already 7-4 favourite with Totesport. The firm cut Damson into 3-1 from 4-1 for the Coronation, while pushing out Virginia Waters to 7-2.
