From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first Saturday of the 2014 PDC Darts World Championship bring the first double-session with a bumper 10 matches spread across the day set to entertain the Alexandra Palace crowd.

Robert Thornton headlines the afternoon session as he takes on Andrew Gilding in the penultimate match, which follows Justin Pipe v Lawrence Ryder with both matches in the first round.

Andy Smith begins the day's action as he takes on Ronny Huybrects, while Scott MacKenzie and Daryl Gurney meet in a preliminary round in a bid to face Ronnie Baxter in the final game before the interval.

The evening session kicks off with a bang as Steve Beaton takes on Kyle Anderson, who is remembered for his brilliant nine-dart finish at the same venue this time last year. Mark McGrath and Scott Kirchner clash in another preliminary round match, with the winner facing the unenviable task of taking on the in-form Gary Anderson at the end of the night.

Before the Flying Scotsman's arrival though, Terry Jenkins takes on John Weber and Australian Simon Whitlock meets Darren Webster in what is set-up to be a thrilling day of darts.
