Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Today

Not far from a must-win game for Everton at home to Spurs while old rivals Wasps and Leicester clash in the Premiership. The Tiger-less Chevron Challenge ends in California.

Tomorrow

Rangers hold their annual general meeting, presumably so that they can tell fans where all the money has gone... but don't bank on it.

Tuesday

Interest in the Champions' League switches from the deadly dull groups featuring British teams. It's winner takes all between Juventus and Bayern Munich while Real Madrid could still crash out if they lose heavily in Marseille.

Wednesday

In the FA Cup, those lucky Staines fans can savour the winter wonderland of The Den on a Wednesday night.

Thursday

England's cricketers finish a two-day tour match against a South Africa Airways XI. Tomorrow is the start of another two-day game against the same opposition at the same venue. One four-day game would have been far too complicated. Rugby's pointless matches continue – hot on the heels of the Barbarians, it's the Varsity match at Twickenham.

Friday

You may not know it but football's Club World Cup is going on. TP Mazembe (Congo) take on Pohang Steelers (South Korea) in Dubai – as if the cash-strapped emirate hasn't got enough on its plate.

Saturday

Juicy top-flight football as Aston Villa visit Man United while Chelsea look to continue their great record against Everton. And the interminable Heineken Cup returns.
