Stan Hey: 6-5 Against
Haye can win early in ideal fight for radio
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. We're only in mid-November but the pantomime season gets under way in Manchester tonight when former sparring partners David Haye and Audley Harrison star in "Best of Enemies".
The storyline involves two friends going their separate ways – Harrison gains Olympic glory but misguidedly sets out on a professional career, knocking over a series of stiffs, then losing to one occasionally, shredding his credibility.
Meanwhile, Haye pounded his way through the unglamorous cruiserweight ranks, before moving up to a heavyweight division populated by ludicrously large eastern European bonecrushers down from the top of a beanstalk. As implausible as a glass slipper, the two men now meet in a world heavyweight bout, for which neither of them is perfectly suited.
Haye's record in grabbing multiple world cruiserweight titles outstrips anything Harrison has achieved. Haye to win in round three – £10 at 9-1, William Hill – but it's one to watch on radio.
Big hitters will be out at Twickenham as England take on Australia after a spirited performance against the All Blacks. We played the handicap to win last week, but the straight 6-4 for an England triumph appeals today – £10 at Totesport. £10 win also goes on Radium in tomorrow's Independent-sponsored novice chase at Cheltenham, many of whose past winners did go to the ball.
