Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Martin Jol's Fulham
At the risk of running counter to the festive spirit, the holiday is over now at Fulham.
After Wednesday night's Odense trauma, there are no more fun trips across Europe, no more eyes on Bucharest, no more dreams of rekindling the spirit of Roy Hodgson's 2010 team. Instead, they have a fairly important Premier League campaign to focus on: Fulham are averaging one point per game, leaving them behind all three promoted teams. Their England striker, Bobby Zamora, is unhappy. Jol has some serious issues to confront. Christmas may be coming, but the real work starts here.

Rostock's Ghost Crowd
It is easy to compliment German football fans on their conduct in stadiums. But their conduct beyond grounds is even better. Hansa Rostock have to play their next game behind closed doors, but fans are buying "virtual" tickets to minimise financial losses at the club. As of yesterday morning they had sold 3,224: only 20,000 remain on sale.
