Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Judd Trump demonstrated all of his battling qualities yesterday to secure a Masters quarter-final match against Ronnie O'Sullivan on Thursday.
The 22-year-old (right) fought back from 3-2 down to clinch an impressive 6-3 victory over Stuart Bingham, this season's Australian Open winner, in the first round at Alexandra Palace. After his win, last month's UK Championship winner admitted he is going to have to raise his game by 50 per cent if he is going to beat O'Sullivan for a second successive tournament.
"It's always a special occasion when you play Ronnie in any tournament, especially because you never know how long he's got left in the game," Trump said. "You've got to enjoy every moment. You have to play your best. The first time I ever played Ronnie I was a bit scared and I felt the pressure, but now he's just another player."
In last night's session, the current World No 6 Shaun Murphy, the former world and UK champion, eased to a 6-2 victory over Martin Gould to join Trump in the quarter-finals.
