Euan Burton beat fellow Briton Ben Fletcher to take gold in the -100kg category at the European Judo Open in Glasgow on Sunday.
Two-time Olympian Burton delighted his home fans with an impressive win over his Great Britain team-mate, who had to settle for silver.
It marked another encouraging tournament for Burton, who moved up in weight after competing in the -81kg category in London 2012.
Britain’s Matt Purssey won bronze at -90kg with a win over team-mate Michael Horley, and Theo Spalding-McIntosh also won -90kg bronze by beating Australia’s Mark Anthony in the second semi-final.
At the London Olympics, Burton broke down in tears after his campaign ended when he lost his first contest to Canadian Antoine Valois-Fortier.
