Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 16-year-old is in Singapore, where he is due to compete at the Youth Olympic Games but first has to recover from a torn triceps, which ruled him out of the European Championships in Budapest.
Daley is uncertain over his participation in Singapore and also has the World Junior Championships, which begin in Tucson, Arizona, next month on his schedule. From there he is due to go to Delhi where he will be part of a 13-strong team of English divers.
In badminton, Nathan Robertson will team up with a new partner, Jenny Wallwork, when he mounts a defence of his mixed doubles crown after the retirement of Gail Emms.
Robertson and Wallwork are already European bronze medallists and National champions and have broken into the world's top 15 since forming a partnership in October 2008.
England's women's hockey squad was also announced yesterday. Alex Danson, on 99 caps, is one player hoping to help the team gain four medals in a row by reaching the podium.
