Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Jason Lee and his Great Britain squad will be putting the final touches to their preparation for next month's Olympic Qualifying tournament in Madrid, when they play Belgium at Bisham Abbey this weekend with games this afternoon and tomorrow morning.

While it is unlikely that Britain will be showing much of their hand, it is a rare opportunity to see the team in action at the recently revamped 43-acre sports site in which Sport England has invested £10m of Lottery funding.

Not too far away, the Premier League leaders, Cannock, will be visiting Guildford while at Reading, the second-placed hosts will be facing third-placed Surbiton in what should be the match of the day.

Both sides will be without their Great Britain players and Reading will be further handicapped by the absence of Simon Towns, the New Zealand captain, who has gone off to lead his country in Athens.

Loughborough Students will be looking to improve their chances of a play-off place with a visit to lowly St Albans but the Students are likely to have next week's European Indoor Championship playing on their minds. As the English champions they are hosting the event from Friday to Sunday, which will be a rare chance to watch European competition.

There are no games in the Women's Premier League this weekend.
