From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The entire England squad who took the bronze medal in last week's European Nations Cup have been named by Mike Hamilton for his Great Britain training squad, with the exception of Reading's Jonty Clarke. Also included is England's David Mathews, the Amsterdam striker who was surprisingly omitted from the European Cup squad.

Russell Garcia, Britain's most capped player and a Seoul Olympic gold medallist, wants to return to international hockey after the British Olympic Association confirmed that it has no objection. The 33-year-old Garcia, now the player-coach with the Gross Flottbeker club in Germany, appealed successfully against a lifetime Olympic ban, having served a three-month suspension after testing positive for cocaine in 1999.

Laurence Docherty, who had recently been seeking Dutch nationality in an attempt to improve his chances of Olympic selection, has been included in the Great Britain squad.
