Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Bracknell Bees inflicted the first defeat of the season on Superleague champions Sheffield Steelers with a 5-3 victory at the Bee Hive on Sunday.

The Bees capitalised on Sheffield's ill-discipline with powerplay goals from Steve O'Rourke, Mark Cadotte and Mark Matier in the first nine minutes. Rick Brebant replied and O'Rourke and Brad Lauer then traded goals before Todd Goodwin sealed victory.

Manchester Storm registered their first away league win this season with a 6-3 success at the London Knights.

Three goals in as many final-period minutes from Kayle Short (powerplay), Pierre Allard and Mark Bultje proved decisive as London lost their 100 per cent home record at the Docklands Arena this season.

Ayr Scottish Eagles moved one point behind leaders Belfast Giants with a 3-1 win over Nottingham Panthers at the Centrum Arena. Dino Bauba, Johan Silfwerplatz and Rhett Gordon scored for the Eagles with Clayton Norris pulling one back for Nottingham.
