From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

As expected the top three partnerships at Badminton earlier this month – Pippa Funnell on Supreme Rock, William Fox-Pitt on Tamarillo and Leslie Law on Shear H20 – have been named for the Great Britain three-day event squad for the World Equestrian Games in Spain in September.

Law has a second horse on the squad in Shear l'Eau. Funnell, who will be hotly fancied to add the world title to her European championship, has Cornerman on the reserve list, as has Fox-Pitt with Stunning.

Polly Stockton makes her debut on the senior squad at the age of 28, having finished seventh at Badminton with Mark Todd's former mount, Eye Spy II. The squad is completed by Kristina Cook with Captain Christy and Jeanette Brakewell on Over to You, whose Badminton fall has been justifiably overlooked.

Karen Dixon and her mount, Uptotrix, who finished 16th at Badminton, were due to be included on the reserve list until Dixon announced at the weekend that she is expecting her second child in October.
