From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Welsh teenager Chaz Davies will spend his half-term holiday next week testing the brand new factory Aprilia 125cc machine that he will race in the world championships.

The 15-year-old – from Presteigne in Powys – has given up his school holiday to travel to the Valencia circuit in Spain and rub shoulders with the world's best 125cc riders.

It will be the first time that Davies has been able to ride the Aprilia machine on which he will compete in the 16-round World Championship this season.

Last year Davies rode in both the British and Spanish championships and so the grand prix venue in Valencia should not hold any surprises for him.

"Luckily I have ridden at Valencia a couple of times before and on the first day I just want to get the feel of the bike which will be the fastest I've ever ridden," he said.

Last year Davies became the youngest rider to win a British championship race. The young Welshman's first race of the season will be at the Japanese Grand Prix on 7 April.
