From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Millar finished one second behind the winner Juan Carlos Dominguez on the 5.5km time trial in Nogent-sur-Oise, but thanks to the time bonus he had picked up in his break on the previous day's stage, the Scot leapfrogged past the Spaniard on the general classification to take the overall victory by two seconds.
"I'm pleased because it means that I am getting over the injuries I suffered in early March and I'm getting back into the original direction I wanted my season to go." the Cofidis rider said. "The first two stages were dreadful, a lot of cross-winds and with very exposed sections, and the time trial was a very technical affair, but I didn't take too many risks and cruised it. It was all worth it in the end."
Another continental-based Briton, the former national champion Jeremy Hunt, took his first win of the season, the previous day's stage to Laon, in a bunch sprint. The Devonian held the lead until the final time trial.
