Basketball: Bucknall inspires Bullets
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Steve Bucknall switched from villain to hero at the Aston Events Centre last night, where his three-pointer 14 seconds from time gave Birmingham Bullets a 76-75 win over Spanish club Tenerife in the Western Conference of the European Champions Cup.
Bullets have now won two games out of three in Europe after last week's 96-95 overtime win in Belgium against Mons, but they have lost all three BBL Championship games and are bottom of the table.
Bucknall, the former England international and LA Laker, cost Bullets victory at Leicester on Sunday, when he missed three free throws.
Last night his three-pointer capped a Bullets fightback after they trailed 72-67 with 90 seconds left.
It looked all but over going into the final minute with Tenerife 75-73 ahead, but Bucknall ensured a memorable evening by winning it for the Bullets and by finishing top scorer with 24.
