Columnist Alan Hubbard of The Independent on Sunday was named Sports Diarist of the Year for his Inside Lines column at the British Sports Journalism "Oscars" night in London on Monday.The broadcaster Rob Bonnet, who read the citation, paid tribute to Hubbard, "whose quality of work has never wavered in all his years of journalism". In December, Hubbard received an award for his writing on disability football from the Football Association.
There was further acclaim when The Independent's David Conn was named Sports News Reporter of the Year.
