Beth Mead scored twice as Arsenal eased back to the top of the FA Women's Super League with a thumping 5-1 win over Liverpool.

England forward Mead was on target either side of half-time to help the Gunners move a point ahead of title rivals Manchester City with a game in hand.

Captain Kim Little put the visitors ahead at Prenton Park with a first-time finish, before second-half goals from Dutch duo Dominique Bloodworth and Vivianne Miedema sealed a resounding success.

Liverpool, who remain in eighth place, briefly reduced the deficit to 4-1 following a penalty from Courtney Sweetman-Kirk.
