Villa are accustomed to leading at half-time - only Manchester City have done so more often in the Premier League this season - but they've only won once when trailing at the interval, ultimately losing on five other occasions. Under Moyes, West Ham are capable of sitting deep and frustrating opponents, so they'll surely be confident of taking maximum points now, and closing the gap to sixth-placed Manchester United.

After a sluggish start, West Ham finally started to shake off their slumbers approaching the midpoint of a close-fought first half, and Antonio's headed goal sees them lead Aston Villa 1-0 at the break. Villa began more brightly of two teams that were in European action just three days ago, but their lack of focus in midfield - and several misplaced passes at the back - invited the Irons to move out of a low defensive block and apply more attacking pressure. Therefore, the hosts' goal was no surprise when it came, and their fourth-placed visitors have failed to provide much of a response since falling behind.
