Jarrod Bowen returned with a bang as West Ham inflicted more away-day pain on Everton with a 2-1 victory. The striker, back after a month out with a foot injury, hit his 13th goal of the season to floor Frank Lampard. West Ham led through Aaron Cresswell’s spectacular free-kick but were pegged back by Mason Holgate’s deflected effort.

Toffees boss Lampard had questioned his players’ bottle – or words to that effect – after they capitulated at Crystal Palace in the FA Cup last time out, but they folded again just five minutes after equalising when Bowen struck. To compound Lampard’s misery they finished the match with 10 men after captain Michael Keane was sent off.

The travel-sick Toffees still boast the worst away record in the country and are only one place above the drop zone in what has been a torrid season. Follow reaction from a crucial clash at both ends of the table at the London Stadium:

58’ - Tottenham 3-1 Newcastle

Saint-Maximin takes on two and looks to set the Magpies back on the front foot, but his reverse pass to Willock can’t find his teammate. It’s all breaking down for them now. Son frees Kane this time in the left channel at the opposite end of the pitch, but Schar slides in with a good block.

Howe reacts and looks to his bench.

NEW subs: Joelinton replaced by Jacob Murphy; Bruno Guimaraes on for Javi Manquillo

53’ - GOAL! Tottenham 3-1 Newcastle

Straight down the other end and straight into the net! Brilliant from Kulusevski once more, he races away after Kane frees him down the right, he beats Burn and crosses low to Son - who just has to control and finish, which he does.

Lightning break and that’s daylight for Spurs now, with the top four beckoning.

52’ - Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle

What on earth is Lloris doing there?! A long pass sees Joelinton run in behind the defence, the Spurs keeper comes running out to the edge of his box and gets absolutely nowhere near it - he’s fortunate the flag is up for offside.

Lloris less than impressive again today.

GOAL! 48’ - Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle

Out of nothing! Matt Doherty steals in behind the defence at the far post and he has a simple task to nod in Kane’s cross from the right channel, after three defenders just watched the ball go.

No chance again for Dubravka but Newcastle will be disappointed to not have dealt better with the delivery.

SECOND HALF - Tottenham 1-1 Newcastle

Back underway in north London. Dan Burn is straight into the book for a slide tackle on Harry Kane and he’s fuming at the forward, suggesting he dived.

Replays suggest he probably doesn’t have too much of a case after throwing himself in.

Spurs’ delivery is dangerous, but the Magpies stand firm.

HALF TIME - Tottenham 1-1 Newcastle

Joelinton was also booked in that clash before the break, then Hojbjerg and Son want another yellow for a Newcastle player after an aerial collision.

All very silly and the break comes at a good time - we’re all square.

45’ - Tottenham 1-1 Newcastle

Spurs go searching for a quickfire second and Conte is frustrated when a call goes against his side from the ref. Two minutes added on.

Bentancur and Burn clash off the ball and there’s lots of pointless shoving and stomping about. Saint-Maximin is booked for his part in the fracas and the same for Spurs’ Uruguayan midfielder.

43’ - GOAL! Tottenham 1-1 Newcastle

Wow, quick equaliser! The first corner is cleared but it comes back to Son and he bends over a brilliant cross, Ben Davies getting up above Matt Targett to glance his header past Dubravka and into the far corner of the net.

All square again after just a couple of minutes.

42’ - Tottenham 0-1 Newcastle

Victory here would surely end any lingering relegation fears for Eddie Howe and co, but there’s a long way to go yet.

As if to underline that, Son blazes infield to take on two and try to get a shot away, but Schar holds him up and Manquillo gets the ball behind.

GOAL! 38’ - Tottenham 0-1 Newcastle

...and it’s in! Fabian Schar takes the free-kick and he’s lashed it low and into the bottom corner, Lloris getting a hand to the ball but not keeping it out - not great by the skipper. Newcastle ahead!
