Zlatan Ibrahimović is nearing a free transfer to Manchester United with the Sweden striker’s agent branding a possible switch to Old Trafford as a “beautiful thing.”

Ibrahimović’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired this month and The Independent understands lengthy talks have been held with United over a possible free transfer, but any move is likely to be delayed as the 34-year-old holds out for a £1m loyalty bonus from the Ligue 1 champions.

Mino Raiola, the player’s agent, told telefoot: “Moving to Manchester United would be a beautiful thing. It's a great team with a great coach. I've made my decision, but it has not yet taken.

“He's really busy with the Euro. Out of respect his country, the fans and the coach must be professional and concentrate on that.”

Raiola, who also represents Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has said the Armenian international could yet join United, branding the suggestion that talks have been halted as a “sin”.

“It would be a sin to stop talking,” said Mino Raiola, the player’s agent. “I am a positive guy. If I wasn't confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn't try.”

Mkhitaryan, 27, has just one-year to run on his contract at the Westfalenstadion and is said to be keen on linking up with Mourinho in the North West.
