Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila is seemingly keen on a move to Arsenal, and is urging the north London club to get ready to make an offer as soon as Euro 2012 comes to an end in July.
"I have heard Arsenal are interested in me," the Rennes player told Sporting Life.
"I like Arsenal and I like the Premier League.
"I don't know what is happening with the clubs, but yes, I would be interested in the Premier League and Arsenal."
It is unconfirmed whether or not the Gunners would be willing to break the bank and spend the supposed £17m that M’vila would command. The French international would be an ideal addition to Arsene Wenger’s squad if the manager can fight off his tendency to sign the more cost-effective option.
It may be argued that Arsenal already have a quality man in this holding midfield role with Alex Song, however the Frenchman would not be a like-for-like replacement.
M’Vila is a genuine defensive midfielder, and any arrival would allow Song, who is looking increasingly creative with age, to push forward and rotate the center midfield role with Mikel Arteta.
Like many of Wenger’s signings, M’Vila is young at 21, however having made 110 appearances for Ligue 1 side Rennes and 20 caps for the national side, he boasts experience beyond his years.
