Former Paris Saint-Germain attacker Nene was today expected to undergo a medical at West Ham prior to signing an initial short-term deal to the end of the season, according to the Evening Standard.

West Ham turned to the 33-year-old Brazilian following a knee injury sustained by Andy Carroll who will be out for the rest of the season.

Nene, who can either play up front or as a wide midfield player, is a free agent after leaving Qatari club Al Gharafa in January.

He scored 36 goals in 79 games for Paris Saint-Germain from 2010-13 and 20 in 43 with Al Ghafra.

West Ham are keen to satisfy themselves on the player’s fitness however, before any deal is settled.
