West Ham United are close to agreeing a deal with Nice for the striker Loïc Rémy for a fee of around £12m. A bid of £11.2m for the 23-year-old French international was turned down a week ago but West Ham's co-owners, David Gold and David Sullivan, have not been deterred. Sullivan was reported to have flown to Nice yesterday to complete the deal. The major stumbling block is believed to be the timetable for paying the fee. On Friday, West Ham signed the Mexican winger Pablo Barrera for £4m from Pumas.
