From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Chelsea are in talks to sign Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado to Stamford Bridge in a £27m transfer. However, The Independent can reveal that Cuadrado’s arrival depends on the departure of Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah, who has failed to impress since arriving at Chelsea last year.

Roma, Besiktas and Hull are all reported to be in the hunt for the former Basle star, and Andre Schurrle could also follow him out of the club with Wolfsburg interested, although the German has made a better impression on Jose Mourinho and is seen as a better squad option.

The Blues are also being linked with a £40m move for Juventus star Paul Pogba, although they may have to up their bid if they are to land the France international. The Daily Express reports that the Blues are in the running for the 21-year-old along with a number of other clubs across Europe, including Manchester United and Manchester City. However, previous reports this month have claimed it will take a figure closer to £78m to take on Pogba, such is his reputation in Turin.

Liverpool could face opposition in their hunt to land James Milner on a free transfer in the summer after the Daily Mirror reported that Spanish side Valencia are showing interest in the Manchester City midfielder. Talks between City and Milner have stalled and the England international is free to leave the club at the end of the season, with Anfield being the most likely destination. But this morning, reports are merging that Milner could head to Spain with Valencia ready to make a move for the 29-year-old.

The Daily Mail is reporting the rather embarrassing news that there has not been a single official enquiry for out-of-favour United midfielder Anderson. The Brazilian has not played for the club since August and it’s known that his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, but after going out on loan to Fiorentina last season, it appears no one is willing to take the 26-year-old this month.

Swansea are considering a move for Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes after letting Wilfried Bony join Manchester City in a £28m transfer earlier this month. The Telegraph claims that the 24-year-old could arrive at the Liberty Stadium before the end of the month, but states that he will not be a replacement for Bafetimbi Gomis whose future remains unclear.

striker Dani Osvaldo could be set for a stunning return to the Premier league after the Daily Mirror reported interest from relegation candidates Queens Park Rangers. Osvaldo left Saints on loan to join Inter Milan after a spell away with Juventus last season, having been involved in an altercation with a Saints team-mate in which he was reported to have head-butted them.

Interest in Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings is increasing by the day after the Daily Mail reported that Newcastle have entered the race to land the highly-rated 21-year-old. Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with a move for Mings, but the report claims that he will not be playing for Ipswich next season even if the Championship club gains promotion to the Premier League.

Finally, the Evening Standard reports that Manchester United will rival Arsenal in the race to land Gabriel Paulista. The 24-year-old Villarreal defender claimed he was in talks to join the Gunners earlier this week, but United are considering a bid in an effort to strengthen their defensive issues.
