From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Tottenham have completed the signing of Belgian winger Nacer Chadli from FC Twente and he could feature in their pre-season friendly against Monaco on August 3.

Chadli's move to White Hart Lane, for a reported £7million, was confirmed by Spurs today after the 23-year-old agreed personal terms and passed a medical.

The Belgium international has been training with Tottenham on their tour of Asia.

He is the second major summer signing for Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, following the arrival of Brazil midfielder Paulinho from Corinthians earlier this month.

Chadli has spent three season with Twente and he scored in both Champions League ties against Spurs during the 2010-11 season.
