The 29-year-old could soon be available on a free, with only six months remaining on his contract, however his club are hoping to get more like £3m for the forward.
Jones is reportedly keen for the transfer to go ahead after angering his club by failing to report for Sunday's game against Liverpool, only informing Mark Hughes via text message.
Considering the short time left on his contract, it seems inevitable that Jones will be leaving the club before too long, after four seasons at the club that have not exactly been a success.
Jones joined from Sunderland in 2010 for £8m, but he has started only four league games this season and managed only 13 Premier League goals in total during his time at Stoke.
