The 27-year-old Colombian has reportedly been a transfer target for both Manchester United and Chelsea, but it appears that it is Jose Mourinho's side who have come out on top in this particular battle.
According to reports, Guarin will move to Stamford Bridge in January in a deal worth around £15m.
His agent, Marcelo Ferreryra, said talks with Chelsea had started last week and that a deal was now close: "I can confirm Chelsea's interest in Fredy and it's now up to the clubs to discuss a deal. We'll open talks once they have agreed terms," he told Caracol Radio.
"We have already been to London with Inter and met with Chelsea directors to make their interest formal.
"There have been talks as part of negotiations. If both clubs reach an agreement, a transfer is an option, but Fredy is happy at Inter as well if they don't agree terms."
