Giovani dos Santos appears to be edging closer to a move from Barcelona to Spurs. "Next season I will be playing for Tottenham," the 19-year-old Mexico midfielder told Spanish newspaper Sport. Giovani has undergone an ankle operation since scoring a hat-trick for Barça against Real Murcia in the last La Liga game of the season and Spurs have been reported to be monitoring his recovery. Tottenham have also been linked with a host of players from Spain, the latest being Sergio Garcia, the Real Zaragoza striker, who made his international debut at the end of last month and has been named in the Spain squad for Euro 2008.

Prandelli 'happy' at Blues link

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is flattered by reports linking him to the manager's job at Stamford Bridge but says he has had no contact with the club. "I know nothing about Chelsea's interest in me," Prandelli said. "Personally, I have not been approached by them. They are just rumours which nevertheless make me happy, but are nothing else." Prandelli, who has also coached Parma and Roma, guided Fiorentina to a fourth-placed finish in Serie A this season, as well as the Uefa Cup semi-finals, securing them a place in next season's Champions League.

Miller close to Rangers return

Derby County chairman Adam Pearson expects Kenny Miller to seal his return to Rangers next week. The clubs have agreed a fee thought to be close to £2m for the Scotland striker. "The two clubs have agreed a deal," Pearson said. "I don't envisage any problems because Kenny is keen to go to Rangers and Rangers are keen to sign him."

Isaksson set on Eastlands exit

Manchester City goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson said Mark Hughes' appointment as City manager will not keep him at Eastlands. "I want to leave the club. I said that before, and the arrival of Mark Hughes will make no difference," Isaksson said. The keeper claimed he was a free agent but City said yesterday he had one year left on the contract he signed in 2006.

Gera attracted by Fulham switch

West Brom's out-of-contract midfielder Zoltan Gera is understood to be attracting interest from Fulham – and is tempted by the possibility of a move to Craven Cottage. Albion have offered a new contract but the Hungarian is reluctant to take it up. He has also been linked with Portsmouth, Everton and Bolton whose manager Gary Megson signed Gera when in charge of Albion.
